Green color natural tourmaline is also known as Verdelite or verdilite is a member of the Tourmaline family. Natural Green Tourmaline is a unique miracle of colors. Often two or more colors are found in a single crystal of a natural tourmaline making a bi-colored tourmaline. Also rare are tourmaline gems which appear to change their color and cat's eye green (Verdelite or verdilite) tourmalines. Most natural green tourmalines are strongly pleochroic (optical phenomenon in which a gemstone displays different colors when observed at different angles, especially with polarized light). Stones that show attractive colors in both directions—such as bright green in one and brownish yellow in another—are the most valuable.
